Last week, my friends unexpectedly came home. Everyone was starving and not in the mood to order something from outside, so I wondered why not make a surprise fast food at home. A thought struck me instantly — Zinger Burger!
Ingredients (for 4-5 burgers)
Chicken fillets: 5 pieces (thin, boneless)
All-purpose flour: 2 cups
Cornflour: ½ cup
Salt: 1 teaspoon
Red chili powder: 1 teaspoon
Black pepper powder: 1 teaspoon
Garlic powder: 1 teaspoon
Paprika: 1 teaspoon
Baking powder: ½ teaspoon
Cold water or milk: As needed (for batter)
Eggs: 2 (beaten)
Oil: For deep frying
To assemble:
Burger buns: 5
Mayonnaise: As needed
Lettuce leaves: Fresh
Cheese slices: 5
Cucumber or pickle: Chopped
How I made it
To begin with, I marinated the chicken fillets in salt, pepper and a pinch of garlic powder for 30 minutes. While they were marinating, I made a dry mixture of flour, cornflour, spices and baking powder.
Next I added cold water and prepared a light batter so that I can dip the chicken pieces. I rolled the chicken in the batter first and then in the dry flour mixture and pressed it lightly so that the crust was crispy.
After coating the whole chicken, I deep-fried it in the deep fryer until golden. The moment the crispy chicken emerged from the deep fryer, its delicious smell filled the kitchen with the aroma of a fast food corner.
Now came the time to put it all together — apply mayo on the burger bun, place fresh lettuce on it, crispy chicken fillet, cheese cubes and pickles on it, and apply mayo on top and close the bun.
Serving time
Putting the Zinger burgers on a plate and serving them to all made my friends say in unison:
"Man, these are even better than the burgers outside!"Zinger Burger - A Crunchy Delight for Friends
Crispy fillet, hot cheese and fresh lettuce with a soft bread — everyone enjoyed consuming them and mentioned that they would not be ordering from outside anymore.
