There are some foods that fill the belly, but also serve as a pretext for happiness, jokes and a place to sit together in the house. Pizza is such a food for me.

I still recall making pizza for the first time at home when power had gone out and rain was pouring outside. Mom announced, "Today we will do something new." We all sat in the kitchen, someone chopping vegetables, someone marinating chicken and someone grating cheese. The smell filled the kitchen and we felt we were in a restaurant.

I prepared pizza for my family last week, and trust me, it was a night to remember.

Ingredients that I used for Chicken Tikka Veggie Pizza
Pizza dough (dough):
Flour: 3 cups
Dry yeast: 1 tablespoon
Sugar: 1 tablespoon
Salt: 1 teaspoon
Olive oil: 3 tablespoons
Warm water: For kneading dough
For topping:
Chicken boneless: 400 grams (cut into small pieces)
Yogurt: 2 tablespoons
Red chili powder: 1 teaspoon
Black pepper: ½ teaspoon
Garlic ginger paste: 1 teaspoon
Salt: According to taste
Onion: 1 medium, finely chopped
Capsicum: 1 cup, finely chopped
Tomato: 1 cup, chopped and seedless
Mozzarella cheese: As needed
Cheddar cheese: As needed
Pizza sauce: ½ cup
How to make
Step 1 – Prepare the dough
First, re-hydrate the yeast in lukewarm water with sugar. I left it for 10 minutes to activate. Then I combined flour, salt and olive oil and kneaded dough and covered for an hour. When dough has risen and doubled in size, I knew it was ready for pizza.

Step 2 – Prepare the chicken
Marinate the chicken in garlic ginger paste, spices and yogurt and fry the chicken in light oil to keep it spicy and soft.

Step 3 – Assemble the pizza

Roll out the dough and put it in a baking tray, spread the pizza sauce on the dough, then add the fried chicken, vegetables and both types of cheese.

Step 4 – Bake
Preheat the oven to 180° and bake for approximately 20 minutes until the cheese is well melted and the edges lightly golden.

Serving time
When the pizza was removed from the oven, the fragrance permeated the kitchen. The children ran to get their plates and the moment they had eaten their first slice, each one exclaimed, "This is even more delicious than the one at the market!"

No one forgot their phones that evening, no one watched television – everyone was seated together and laughing at each and every slice. It was not merely a pizza, it was a moment of happiness for the family.
